The one best thing you can do is to start taking a daily probiotic and enzymes. The probiotic, either in pill form or by adding kefir to your daily routine. Usually a 1 time daily thing. The enzymes should be taken with every meal. The will help get your digestive system balanced back out.
I have actually done the above when experience serious Acid Reflux. It was purely accidental. I had been “treating” but never cured. We added the digestive enzymes and probiotics for another reason. But I noticed that after a week or so on this regimen, I no longer needed a glass of milk to quell the Acid Reflux at bedtime. It has been wonderful to be rid of that, after over a year of constant problem.
What worked best for me before it disappearing was a glass of milk. Apple cider vinegar is a good suggestion also.

Papaya! It reduced the acids. It is the only thing we use for heartburn and acidic stomachs.

For 8 days use 1oz 100-150% aloe juice twice a day.
Along with that take digestive enzymes and probiotics. The aloe will help heal and the enzymes will help with the digestion. Most Acid Reflux product’s stop the body from making acid which your body needs to digest food. Then your body produces twice as much to overcompensate. This causes the problem. Also eat less acidic foods, I used to use over the counter tablets daily, After doing this I rarely have a problem. When I do I take a drink of aloe and have no problem within a few minutes. Get a flavored aloe though because the regular has a terrible taste.

before you get out of bed in the morning drink a large glass of water. That fills the stomach and stretches it away from the esophagus. Then try eating Papaya throughout the day

Funny - I read this morning in “Consumer Reports” that vinegars are sometimes used for this condition - but the report discouraged it. Hmm. That’s what I usually see in here.
I started a natural juice product that helps nourish my body - and my Acid Reflux and heartburn ceased - after only 5 days. I was taking the juice for a nutritional supplement, but this was a very positive result for me.
